Game developers are the ones who originally create a game there are a bunch of different roles for game developers such as art, programming, sound design etc. they have to design every aspect of the game to make one and then once everything has been made it will be compiled into a finished project. all the important roles that go into game development are artists, technical artist, level designer, Animator, Audio engineer and programmers. Major parts of developing a game would be to create story lines and character biographies, conduction design reviews, designing role-play mechanics, creating prototypes for staff/management and documenting game design process.
Publishers
A video game publisher is the company that publishes video games, they are responsible for manufacturing and marketing which includes market research and other aspects of the advertising such as finding out who there target is and making sure they can see the game which can increase sales. sometimes a publisher will pa a game developer or a studio to make a game, if the publisher is using someone who does not work for them to make a game this would be called external development. examples of some game publishers are Bandai Namco, Activision, Nintendo , Sega, Microsoft, EA and a lot of others
Console Manufacturers/First Party Publishers
A console manufacturer/First arty Publisher are the companies that actually make the hardware for the games themselves which is the console to play on, without them there would be no way for a game design to actually exist in the first place. these companies include Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft without the say so of each respective console you would not be able to release a game on the console. each console manufacturer is in competition with each other in almost a arms race usually you will hear about Xbox vs PlayStation which are two rival companies trying to create a better console than each other so each try to be unique e.g Xbox - Connect and PlayStation - VR. When a company makes a game console and then makes a game for that console
Distribution and Retail
Distribution an retail are the companies that get the game from the publisher to the gamers this includes stores like game as well as things like the PlayStation network and xbox live. the point of thsi stage is to get the finished products to the players and to do this you would need the final stage of the chain.
Outsourcing Companies
having a outside company take care of certain things in the company such as servers, distribution. and example of this would be when we need to have a server in a different country so we get a different country to hold it for you instead of making more servers yourself since this would cost less. anothe example would be when a game company would get another company to make figures or limited edition/collectors edition merchandise such as the Naruto Shippuden: Ninja storm games
Press and Media
Press and Media is all about the reception of the game such as reviews from rating sites such as Gamespot, IGN and Famitsu. they would usually rate a game out of a number such a X/10 and give a in detail explanation of their experience on the game saying what they like and didn't like.
