Task 2 – Job Roles

Creative Development

Game designer

designing how the game works an devising all the core aspects such as the mechanics that make up the game
communicating with the Art and programming team so they know what assets are needed and so they know what to code
aspects such as its setting; structure; rules; storey flow; characters; the objects, props, vehicles and other devices available o the character; interface design and modes of play
such as if the player will run, jump, sprint, fly, shoot...

Level Editor

A level designer is someone who creates levels, maps, campaigns, virtual worlds and other things for a video games. level design is a important aspect of creating a game since creating levels has a effect of the aesthetic of the game and the difficulty. the look of the game can bring in more people who want to play it and buy it, by doing this you'll be able increase the amount of sales and amount of people who will complete the game wanting to see the scenery

Outlast
the levels in outlast are meant to give a ominous feeling while you walk through a asylum which should of long been emptied. they keep the surrounding dark and put you through different things such as a church and sewer

Super Mario Maker
in super Mario maker you are able to deign your own levels which is something a lot of people would want to do. I the Mario game you have to go across nw platforms and use unique power-ups

this is a example that i had made with others in my class in a group project

Lead Artist

A lead artist is responsible for he overall look of he game. you would be in charge of the games visual style while managing the art and animation team. They have to wok wit the game designer and lead programmer because they would have to push through all the games visuals while the game is being made so they know that the artwork they are developing can be easily put into the game

This is my own created example of a huge spaceship which will be a boss in the game i am making, its a vector art work and even though its simple io had to think about everything i wanted for it and eventually made it

Technical Artist

they act a as medium between artists and animators making 3D models and other things, they also make sure that art assets can easily be put into a game by checking what files they are. they have to work closely with lead artist, creative director and lead programmer and train other artists with new techniques.

This is my own created example of a piece of art that will actually go into my game, its adapted from the vector artwork into a pixel work because the game i am making needs to be pixelated.

Artist

working under the lead artist to create the visual elements of the game such as characters, scenery, objects, vehicles, surface textures, clothing etc. you also create different things to help develop what the game will look like such as storyboards and concept art. Art is a significant factor in whether or not a game is successful since a game will struggle to get noticed if its ugly no matter how amazing it truly is

Animator

the animator is responsible for the movements and behaviours within the game.
they have to make best use of the engines technology without going over the consoles limits
animation is used to give life to the characters showing off characters facial expresions and movements to give the player the fell of the game, its no jut used on the character but also objects, scenery and environmental effects

This is my own created example, for this i made a small pixel spaceship which spins. its a very simple design, its basically a circle with a pattern split into quarters which move around in a circle.

Audio Engineer

Explain
the point of a audio engineer is to create the soundtrack for a game which in turn will give it, its mood. they create music, sound effects, character voices, spoken instructions and ambient effects
sound effects include

the above image is of Shoji Meguro who is the composer for persona/ persona 5, a popular JRPG that takes place in Japan. the theme music for Persona 5 is Jazz

This is my own created example which i made for my sound work, this is just a example of what sound does to a game. a good sound track can make or break a game

Technical Development

Game Programmer

Explain
as a game programmer you will have to develop the code that will make up the game such as all the mechanics as well as putting together the animation, art and other things into the game

my created example with explanation

Lead Game Programmer

You will take control and lead the programming team. you will be responsible for creating and organizing the computer code which runs the art assets, sound and game mechanics in the game.
you will have to create a technical specification of the game and managing the overall code development process

my created example with explanation

Project Implementation

Project Manager/Producer

The producers job is to make sure that the game is delivered on time and within budget ad to watch over all the aspects of the games creation, development and and delivery. They also have to sort out all problems that arise and keep control of the entire team and works closely with there assistant.

in the Deadpool game deadpool breaks the 4th wall and talks to the producer and since he had too many explosions the game had gone retro because they went over budget as a joke

Assistant Producer

The assistant producer works with the games production staff to release the game to the best of there ability. normally they would focus on certain areas of the development process, such as communications between different parts of the staff or working on some of the projects key processes such as art assets.

External Producer

An external producer works externally from the development team from a perhaps a different company, they make sure the game is delivered successfully. they also have other duties like giving information to the publisher so that the publisher can make the game a commercial success. they are also a medium between the game developers, marketing and publishers.

Creative Director

The creative director has a very important role in the gaming industry because they are responsible for the overall look and feel of the game in the end, they also have to oversee any decisions about the games mechanics, visuals and audio that goes into the game while making sure the quality of gameplay, art and sounds are good enough for the game. sometimes talented creative directors oversee multiple projects.

Quality Assurance

QA Tester

A QA tester is where most people start out in the gaming industry, although this is where people start out it doesn't make this a unimportant role. they have the responsibility of testing, fine tuning and debugging a game while also saying how other teams could improve and refine a games quality and play-ability.  they have to ensure the quality of the game and finding all the flaws it has before it goes out to the public otherwise it could have very big problems.
the bugs are separated into class A, B and C:
Class A bugs - these bugs will make it so that you can not complete the game.
Class B bugs - these bugs will not stop you from completing the game but will stop you from enjoying the game quite a lot.
Class C bugs - the bugs that the game can live with but its still bets to get rid of them.

My created example with explanation
