short profile - On this course you will develop ideas from concept sketches to full blown environments, characters and animations for use in game production. wed even learn fundamentals of game scripting and also work in a team based environment that closely matches a studio so that we can produce high level portfolios. during the second year there will be a work placement with some real life work briefs and afterwards there is even the option to take a third year.
duration - The course is 2 years long.
entry requirements - There are no specific entry requirements but to get into year 1 you will have to go through a interview.
overview - In my opinion this course seems like a very good one, its accessible, has a course that would work with what i want and i know of people who have graduated from here and have made there way into the games design world.

short profile - from the very start of this course you will be designing and developing games from design and animation to digital modelling. on this course you will be able to work on real and live projects that have come from the gaming industry, work with real deadlines so you can understand what its like and show off your own creativity through your work. all of this will be taught with the latest software and up to date facilities taught by professionals

entry requirements - You will need 260 UCAS Tariff points and will be assessed by your portfolio.
overview - After looking at this course it sounds like a good course for a couple of reasons since we'll have to work to actual deadlines and understand what the industry will be like and be taught my professionals.
Course 3 - Games Design and Development (The Manchester Metropolitan University)

short profile - This course is far more technological than it is creative. the degree is accredited by the British computing society who are the chartered professional body for IT. The facilities at Manchester Metropolitan University are very good including multimedia studio with Hd cameras, Vision Mixing , full recording kit and audio, broadcast and CGI post production equipment.

overview - This course seems way too technological and not creative enough I know this since i also know someone who went this college and told me about the course he was taking and it didn't seem to have a good enough course for me.

short profile - on this course you will be studying games design and what skills are necessary to be able to make your way into the games design industry. you will study in MediaCity and have work based experience relevant to the games design industry. this course is aimed to you if you want to pursur freelance work or get employed in a range of careers in the games design industry

overview - This seems like a good course because it is close by to where I live and the course itself seems like something that I would want to do. the course isn't focused on any part of the industry and i will get to meet local people with similar dreams.

short profile - On this course you will get to do a multitude of things from building games, testing them and playing them. we'll be able take the games design software and create new gaming experiences. we will make story boards to playable prototypes to user testing and evaluation. on this course you will design the code as well as the visual feedback systems so you would be ready to finally join the games design industry and make games from scratch

entry requirements - There are no specific entry requirements but to get into year 1 you will have to go through a interview.
overview - This course seems like a very good course and since it is at a college that specialises in the arts it would be better set for someone who does games design, the college isn't anywhere near where I live so I would have to move away if I wanted to go to this college which is both a bad thing but I plan to move out anyway so it doesn't really matter.
Task 4 – Progression – Higher Education.
Use the UCAS site to familiarise yourself with the process of choosing and applying for higher education courses. You can also find out about the financial aspects of studying at university. Do not register at this stage. You may also want to look at the Skillset accredited courses for games in addition to company websites. But remember that you have a wide range of options and do not have to stay within the field of games design.
Create a shortlist of five courses that you would consider attending and include a short profile on each, type of course, duration, entry requirements, overview etc.
You are aiming to prepare personal career development material to a quality that reflects near professional standards consistently using correct formal language.
The title of this work should be titled Task 4 – Progression – Higher Education.
